Testimonials

“ I have been working with Akiko for over 3 years. She completely stripped and resurfaced Mahogany trim, Plaster Wall Moldings, and a Plaster Fireplace Mantel from 1893 in our townhouse on the Upper West Side during our renovation. She recently refinished the wood stairs, trim and new wainscoting we newly installed. Akiko does not cut corners with any of her work. She plans every step of the work plan in detail - from the preparation to the final coat of finish. She really cares about her work and it shows withe her positive attitude and friendly nature. Her quotes were accurate and she sticks to her promises. I have dealt with many contractors over the years and she is one of the few that I still regularly do work with - which says a lot. I highly recommend Akiko. “

“ We were looking for a woodworker / craftsperson with the ability to restore the beauty of old painted wood for years - Akiko was recommended by one of her colleagues who told us that she was just the best. I found this remarkable and got in touch with her immediately. She was extremely responsive, and we met the next day. Akiko gave me a clear schedule of her work delineating the timeline. She carefully explained the steps involved and made sure I understood. the end product was beautiful and I kept asking Akiko for more work beyond the original project and she kept delivering. Akiko is greatly reliable in the quality of work she produces and extremely pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend her for any wood working she feel within her domain. In addition to be meticulous, Akiko is truthful and trustworthy.

“ I am a Harlem home owner writing this recommendation about the consistently good work of Akiko Yoshida. I have hired her on numerous occasions for a variety of jobs in my home including, refinishing architectural wood works, compounding, plastering and painting. I am very happy with the quality and attention to the details of Akiko’s work. In the years I have known her, I also consider Akiko a friend. And she’s also community minded as I know she’s volunteered many hours of her personal time to uplift and promote the arts in Harlem. “

“Akiko transformed the wood works in our house, bringing out the beauty buried by an earlier incompetent refinishing. She worked on every part of our 100-years old house, stripping and expertly refinishing our stairs, windows, fireplaces and floors. In addition to wood works, Akiko is expert with paint and plaster work ; she repaired water damaged plaster work in our house, completely replacing one ceiling without disturbing the decorative mouldings and has painted nearly every room in the house. She is extremely trustworthy and the utmost professional. everyone visits our house praises her works. “

“ It’s a little scary to think about it now and I’m glad that experience is behind me. Although I had studied architecture, precious little was taught at the university that prepared me for being a general contractor. When I was introduced to Akiko Yoshida,I was in a difficult spot. I had just bought a late 19th Century mansion in Manhattan that have been hacked into 10 small apartments. The key to the project was to restore the building’s old world charm. The problem was that I barely knew whether to start. Fortunately, a colleague had worked with Akiko and her team and made a strong recommendation. Wood restoration is part art and part science. Akiko was successfully able to recover the natural beauty of the wood while safely handling/mixing the strong chemicals involved in process. We’ve remained colleagues through the years and I’d be happy to extend the same strong recommendations that was giving to me years ago.
